Reminder of Benefit Bank Tuesday

Sunday, March 13, 2011

To the Editor:

I would like to invite you to an informational session regarding The Benefit Bank Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., and there is no cost to attend this session.

More than 624 million in federal work support dollars (Pell grants, health insurance, etc.) goes unclaimed every year in Indiana by eligible residents who do not apply.

The Benefit Bank of Indiana is an outreach effort meant to remedy this situation, which is sponsored by Purdue University Cooperative Extension in partnership with community and faith-based organizations across the state.

The Benefit Bank will utilize a state-of-the-art, web-based tool to move Indiana residents out of unemployment, poverty or welfare into self-sufficiency all while boosting the economic prosperity of local communities.

This meeting is designed to share information concerning The Benefit Bank and the advantages it offers residents of our county. This is an opportunity to enhance the county's future economic growth.

To register for the session, please e-mail me at brownm@purdue.edu, or call 448-9041, to indicate the number of people from your organization who will be attending.

I need this information by March 14.

I look forward to seeing you as we move toward helping the citizens of Clay County.

Sincerely,

Melanie B. Brown,

4-H Youth Extension Educator,

County Extension Director
