Water project finished, road reopened

A water project that forced the closure of State Road 340 is finished, allowing the road to be reopened, Wednesday.

According to water superintendent Jake Raubach, the project, which started Oct. 18, had been focusing on updating the water system near SR 340.

"There was a section of line (we were working on)," Raubach said. "They were putting in a new fire hydrant at that line ... and asked while they were there if they would put in a valve for future advantage."

Raubach said he appreciated the patience shown by citizens and that the inconvenience was due to maintenance and upgrading that will ultimately provide a better service.

Meanwhile, according to Raubach, a boil order that had been in affect for Brazil residents and businesses west of County Road 200 West on United States 340 and the north side of United States 40 is now being lifted.

Raubach said he spoke with the state, which said the samples were fine.

The state requires a boil order to be in affect if water pressure dips below 20 psi.
