K9 Donation!

Thursday, March 1, 2012

The Rotary Club of Brazil recently donated $1,000 to the City of Brazil Police Department's new K9 project. The donation will be used for the funding, training and maintenance of a police dog. Shown here at the donation included (from left) Police Chief Clint McQueen, new Rotarian and Police Sgt. Todd Stemm, Officer Robert Van Buren and President-Elect Mary Jo Alumbaugh. The police department K9 project is getting closer to raising necessary funds of approximately $12,500, but needs more donations to reach its goal. The department anticipates it will be able to secure a new K9 after it completes specialized training sometime in mid-spring, but fundraising must be completed first. The new K9 would be used to assist on a number of jobs, including narcotics detection, tracking lost or missing persons, apprehending fleeing criminals and other community projects.
