Fishing Fun Day a success

Sunday, September 23, 2012

To the Editor:

The Brazil City Parks and Recreation Board would like to thank all individuals, businesses, politicians and organizations who helped in any way with the eighth Fishing Fun Day, at Craig Park, Sept. 15.

More than 120 children and their families spent the morning together fishing and enjoying this special time with one another.

The weather was perfect and the fish were biting.

Free hot dogs and Pepsi were available to everyone. Each child 12-under received a prize.

Brazil is fortunate to have such beautiful parks.

And Brazil is fortunate to have so many kind and giving people to help with the project.

This was truly a community effort.

Thank you to Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham and wife Connie, clerk/treasurer Karen McQueen, Brazil Police Department, Brazil Fire Department, Clay County Sheriff's Department, Pepsi Cola Refreshment Services and Bill Osborn, Fifth Third Bank and Mary Ann Thompson, French Funeral Home, Moore Funeral Home, Bob Pell, James Deal, Judge Blaine Akers, Judge Joe Trout, Hoosier Homes and Land Realty, Century 21 Realty, Emmert Realty, Kroger, Walmart, Robert Webster, Noel and Donna Short, Mark Cooper, Jon and Mary Jane Girton, Jack and Dee Elder and Jack's Bait and Tackle Shop, Bill Houck, Ed Holt, John Day, Ryan Brackman and Gracie Messmer.

A special thank you to L.T. Clark and his family: Dabren Clark, Danny Slack, Hunter Slack, Yates Clark and Robyn Clark.

They all patiently shared their knowledge and expertise about fishing with the children.

More importantly, they shared their enthusiasm and love of nature.

Ruthann Jeffries,

President, Brazil City Parks and Recreation Board
