Letter to the Editor

Food Drive was a success

To the Editor:

On Saturday, May 11, letter carriers across the country collected food for local food pantries.

The national total collected was 74.5 million pounds. Locally, Brazil gathered 2,349 pounds, Staunton gathered 65 pounds, and Harmony and Knightsville combined to collect 211 pounds.

Your local letter carriers would like to thank everyone who donated food. A special thanks to the congregation of the Good Tidings Tabernacle and the residents of Meridian Towers. Your generous donations brought a tear to my eye.

Finally, thanks again to our local sponsors: L&S Glass, Sycamore Painting, Mike's Muffler and Auto Service, Sutherland Excavating, Dr. Alicia Reed-Thomas, Jim Lawrence Insurance Agency, Kiddie Korner Day Care, Dr. Linda Colter, Emmert Realty, Aames Title and Closing, Auto ER, G.
