Letter to the Editor

Groups not mentioned in letter

Sunday, August 4, 2013

To the Editor:

In the July 15, issue of The Times, I read a letter from the outgoing president of the Rotary Club in which she thanked various clubs and groups for their participation in the recent July 4 activities at Forest Park.

This was well and good. However, at least two very important groups were omitted from this list: The Clay County choral group led by Director Sam Glover, and the Brazil Concert Band, led by Matt Huber.

They are indeed what the Fourth of July is all about.

Although I was unable to hear Mr. Glover's very talented choral group this year, I did hear Mr. Huber's grand patriotic extravaganza from beginning to end.

Those people whom I sat close to in the audience were thoroughly enjoying every single piece that was played that night.

This kind of concert is so appropriate for the season. It makes one feel so proud to be an American.

Hats off to Sam Glover and Matt Huber for all their hard work and efforts each year in presenting such patriotic concerts for the Brazil people and their guests.

Sincerely yours,

Betty Niswonger-Green,

Brazil
