Letter to the Editor

Addressing immigration

Sunday, November 3, 2013

To the Editor:

Now that the shutdown circus in Washington is over, the President wants to address our immigration situation.

The Senate passed S744, which not only increases legal immigration three-fold, but rewards illegal immigrants with work visas.

The House Republicans want to work on a smaller more manageable piecemeal approach, which would be a better way to handle this.

Recent lobbying efforts from the CEOs of Facebook, Netflix, Groupon and Yahoo stand to make billions off of an increase in immigration, but what about us Americans who are unable to find work?

Should we allow big money to decide their bank accounts are more important then the constituents who the politicians are supposed to represent?

Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly was against amnesty when he campaigned, but voted for S744.

Indiana Representatives Susan Brooks, Luke Messer, Andre Carson and Todd Young all expressed support for legalizing most of the illegal aliens in our country.

But what about their unemployed constituents?

It's almost like we don't matter to these politicians.

We elected you to represent us and not the illegals or the people who profit off them.

We want jobs and our current immigration laws enforced and not more promises.

State Director, Indiana Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement,
