Letter to the Editor

Thanks for ongoing flag project

Sunday, November 10, 2013

To the Editor:

First of all, I would like to thank all the past and present Veterans who serve our country to protect us and our freedoms that we enjoy today.

It is because of that freedom we can proudly fly our American Flags across the land, from sea to shining sea.

This year marked the 21st year of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce Flag Project.

It began in May 1992 for Loyalty Day, after the short run of the Desert Storm War, to honor our Veterans and to show our small town patriotism.

Who would have known all the other events that would take place in these last two decades!

This project has been made possible by the generosity of the merchants and citizens of Brazil and Clay County.

These are the people who have donated to the project over the last two years: Allied Insurance, Allstate Insurance (Greg Kerns), Blue Moon Gifts, Brazil Family Dentistry, Coughanowr Insurance, Ken Crabb, Emmert GMAC, French Funeral Home, Hoosier Homes and Land, H&R Block, Hometown Realty (Century 21), Lorenze Service, Mike's Muffler, Miller and Stewart LLC, Moore Funeral Home, Pappy's Barbecue, PDF, Premier Tax Service, Charles Reberger, Riddell National Bank, Shear Image, Sugar N Spice, Stadler Accounting, Traditions, Thomas Law Firm, Terre Haute Savings Bank and Warren Tire.

Thank you to these folks for their generous donations that make this project possible.

Also, a special thanks goes to Duke Energy for putting the flags up and storing them when not in use, Dave Evans at Evans Decorating for supplying quality flags, PDF for cutting the poles when needed, Tyler Tutterow at Moore Funeral Home for properly disposing of the flags, Melanie and Danielle Mace, Eddie and the guys at Bedwell Tire for helping to change the flags out and straighten the bent poles, and the City of Brazil for helping maintain them.

Without the help of all these people, this project would not be possible.

This is an ongoing project and anyone is welcome to make a donation to the Chamber of Commerce in care of the Flag Fund.

God Bless America!

Sincerely,

Vickie Mace,

Brazil
