Veterans programs a success

Sunday, November 17, 2013

To the Editor:

Thanks to all for the great Veterans Day program that started early in the morning at the post with a large breakfast made by Maxine and her crew of many.

Jay Ellotts (eggs), Jim and Lois (biscuits and gravy) and the many more people who helped with the breakfast.

The program put on by the American Legion and the great guest speaker we had was, as my wife put it, extremely inspiring.

We had a full honor guard along with the band, and some very patriotic music.

We than moved back to the post, where our band was setting up and Scott's crew had those ham and beans and cornbread ready to go.

For the Veterans who missed the celebration, I want to thank you for your part as a Veteran. I am sure you made one or more of the many events provided by a great community and schools.

I am sorry that I could not attend any of them on Nov. 11, 2013. My duties as the Post Commander of V.F.W. Post 1127 allowed me time for only the post.

But I managed to do programs the week before at the Exceptional Living Center of Brazil and my always favorite, Meridian Elementary School.

I always say that there is nothing closer to God than to look into the face of a child, who we at the V.F.W. take very seriously.

A special thanks goes out to Senior Master Sergeant Robert Basch, for his help in making our programs presented. Very special thanks, buddy.

So again, thanks to all of you for the extra effort that you put in so that others could benefit from your knowledge and your experience.

You are the people who make it happen.

And as always, I leave you with the message that "No Veterans will ever be turned away, but consider joining us in our mission to support our community."

Bob Bigley,

Post Commander, V.F.W. Post 1127,

Brazil
