Beerfest time for fun, food, and faith, or something else?

Sunday, April 26, 2015

To the editor:

Recently, in The Times, I read of the Inaugural Wabash Valley Beerfest coming up. It was stated that it will be a time of "fun, food and faith." Maybe the full lineup ought to read "Fun food, beer and faith? Strange bedfellows."

Thirty five years ago before the salvation of Jesus Christ came to my life we drank much craft beer and talked about the Lord for hours. Lots of laughs. To read of pure and true Bible salvation begin with John 3: 1-8, Ephesians 2:1-10, I Peter 1:17-25 and Romans 10:8-15.

Since 1983, I have made 18 overseas mission trips and will soon be making my 19th. Every one of these was paid for by special offerings coming from God's people. No trip had more than 10 people giving into it. A number of them have received eternal rewards while the rest continues to give more to the kingdom of God and in return God's blessings pour out upon them. The sponsor of the beerfest have many members, a number of them that are well off and affluent. To peddle beer to send minors to a religious conference is disgraceful. I believe even Brother Francis, in his heart of hearts, would feel the same way.

Sincerely,

Tom Roeschlein
