Applications available for Thanksgiving basket program

A group of individuals between agencies, organizations and churches are coordinating Thanksgiving baskets throughout Clay County again this year. This process will follow the tradition of the Christmas Assistance Program. There will be an application process and it also will decrease the chances of families receiving more than one basket. We have found throughout the years that there has been many families who have received multiple baskets and we believe that there are other families not getting the chance to take advantage of this opportunity when they are in need as well.

Applications for assistance have been made available to families in Clay County at the Brazil Housing Authority, Clay Co. Department of Child Services and Family Resources, Hamilton Center and throughout all county schools on September 21st. The deadline for submitting an application for Thanksgiving Baskets will be on October 30th.

Shortly after the October 30th deadline a small group of local volunteers will review the applications for completeness, check for any duplicates and confirm eligibility. Families can apply and only claim the children they have custody of and their application will be sent out to the various adoptive organizations, etc., if they qualify.
