Teacher has fond memories of Clay City

To the editor:

I have such fond memories of Clay City!

In 1972 I was fresh out of college (Ball State University), newly married, and proud owner of a farm near Patricksburg. Doug Inman saw something in me and gave me a job teaching second grade. I fell in love with the town, the people, and that old building. It was so much like my home area in rural Gaston. I taught there for five years before moving back to my home area.

Charlotte Muenster and Lorene Wolf were mentors. Cathy Collins and Rogene Morge still keep in touch. My thanks to all those wonderful students who were my teachers as much as I was theirs.

I will retire at the end of this school year from Wes-Del Elementary... 42 years of teaching! I will always remember those first special years at Clay City. Best wishes to a wonderful community.
