Multi-county chase leads to arrest

At 12:40 a.m. Friday, Indiana State Police Trooper Brad Miller attempted to stop a red 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe for a stop sign violation in the town of Hymera. As Trooper Miller activated his emergency lighting, the driver fled westbound on State Road 48 and then northbound on U.S. 41. The chase continued into Vigo County with Vigo County sheriff’s deputies deploying stop sticks at Pimento Circle, which the driver struck and deflated the two front tires. The suspect continued northbound through the city of Terre Haute with officers from various agencies blocking intersections for safety. Once through the city of Terre Haute and northern Vigo County, the chase continued into Parke County with Parke County sheriff’s deputies deploying stop sticks on US 41 at County Road 900 South. The suspect again struck the stop sticks damaging a rear tire and continued on driving on the rims of the vehicle. The suspect turned west onto S.R. 163 and as he was crossing the Wabash River Bridge, Clinton city police officers deployed another set of stop sticks which the suspect struck and deflated the remaining tires. The chase ended when the suspect drove into a private yard at the intersection of 7th and Front streets in Clinton.
