Organizer thanks community for ‘Hoops’ support

Sunday, April 8, 2018

To raise money to help fight cancer my Relay Team (Northview Key Club and Friends) and I organized a friendly basketball game between the Fire Fighters and Crime Fighters. The Fire Fighters were from both Brazil City Fire Department and Clay County Volunteer Departments and the Crime Fighters were from both Brazil City Police and Clay County Sheriff’s Departments. We all had so much fun and raised $2500. to donate to Relay For Life of the Wabash Valley.

I want to thank everyone for their support. We need to thank all of the players along with Josh Clarke and Jake Bennett for helping me and taking care of getting their teams together. Thanks to Matt Huber and the Jackson Township Band members for the music and Northview High School for the use of the gym, equipment, scorekeepers and announcers. A huge thank you to Parker Timberman and Herb Timberman for the National Anthem. Also, thanks to all of the fans that came out to the game, purchased T-shirts and cheered on their favorite players.

Look for us again next year. during March Madness We will be even bigger and better, The teams are already talking, maybe practicing and looking forward to a rematch. Who will be the winner next year?
