TOPS Chapter 0280, Brazil, honored Ellen Fisher for being a KOPS for 45 years at their May 10th meeting. Ellen is in the center with 6-year KOPS, Beverly Kidwell, on the left and 20-year KOPS, Marlene Rodgers, on the right. Her chapter told Ellen that keeping off the weight for that long was definitely newsworthy and that they are exceptionally proud of her for reaching this landmark. They honored her with a reception and a money tree containing $45— $1 for each year. TOPS stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. One a TOPS member has reached the goal weight agreed upon between the TOPS member and their doctor they become KOPS — Keep Off Pounds Sensibly. All TOPS members agree that while taking off pounds is difficult it is harder still to keep them off. Ellen has done this successfully for 45 years. Others present at the reception were Dorothy Godsey, Tom Bond, Alice Ann Courtney, Tammy Bond, Jane Starr, Peggy Sanders, Miranda White and Sarah Bond. TOPS Chapter 0280, Brazil meets each Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Inside Out Recovery building on East Hendrix Street. Those interested in TOPS support for weight loss are always welcome to visit.
