Donald Lewis Thompson, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully October 8, 2018 in Gibson Family Hospice at Union Hospital, he was surrounded by his family after battling Alzheimer’s disease for the past six years. He was born April 26, 1939 in Clay County to Margaret Marie Bell Thompson and Maurice Aubra Thompson. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard Reserves. He worked as an insurance salesman for Western Southern Life, a maintenance engineer at Pillsbury Foods and retired from the Putnamville State Correction Facility as a plumber. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Maurice Luther Thompson, his youngest brother Jerry Lee Thompson and his beloved grandson Christopher Levi Morley. Survivors include his son, Andrew Thompson of Terre Haute, his daughters; Sandra Thompson of Terre Haute and Manda Stanton and her husband Scott of Clinton. Also surviving are brothers; Robert Thompson and his wife Carolyn of Brazil, and William Thompson and his wife Mary also of Brazil. He is survived by grandchildren; Stacey Reece, Ji Carmen-Thompson, Jebediah Carmen-Thompson, and his great grandchildren Alyssa Buckallew, Kyra Morley, Lincoln Morley and Joshua Held and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services are Saturday October 13th, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3050 East Davis, Terre Haute, IN., 47802. A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN., 47802 were entrusted with local arrangements.
