Crews were out working early Wednesday morning along a portion of East Kruzan Street from North Walnut to North Washington streets to make repairs before the upcoming paving project. Motorists are urged to use caution while driving along the streets in some areas of Brazil soon as a major street repair/paving project starts.

According to Brazil Street Department Supervisor Brian Bemis, the project is happening because of funds from the Community Crossings Grant and matching funds from the city totaling $1 million (received in November 2018.)

Bemis said the striping for other intersections in the city will also arrive soon to be installed.

Although it’s been a rainy summer so far, the following city streets are tentatively scheduled to be worked on by road crews when the weather allows:

• Milling for three days starting June 24-26 and again during July 3-9,

• Railroad, Villa, Pinecrest, Willow Court, and Willow Drive will take place on June 27,

• Niagra, Locust, and Edgewood on June 28,

• Magnolia and Ringo on July 1,

• Darley and Lambert on July 2,

• Pell, Turner St., Mary Patton Drive, Strain and Boone Dunbar on July 10,

• Illinois and Tennessee on July 11,

Georgia, Vermont, and Park on July 12,

• St. Joseph on July 15, and

• Robinson and Kruzan on July 16.

Bemis said crews from S.T. Construction and Wabash Valley Asphalt companies, both based in Terre Haute, will be working on the projects until completed.

Another area where work will be completed soon is the intersection at Jackson and Vandalia streets, where new sidewalks, curbs, and a crosswalk are being installed along with a new 4-way stop.

Motorists should be prepared to slow down and use caution in these areas while the work is being completed.
