Motorists, watch out for detours

Motorists traveling through Clay County need to be prepared in case they come upon one of several road closures due to work crews by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). This detour is located on State Road 59, just south of County Road 1100 N., which is north of Brazil. Work crews from Crider and Crider, Inc. are pictured replacing a small structure and repairing pipelines on SR 59. The official detour follows U.S. 40 to U.S. 231 to U.S. 36 and back to S.R. 59, with the road scheduled to be reopened Sept 24.

INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.

Other road closings in Clay County include:

• S.R. 246 for a bridge 1.4 miles east of S.R. 159 will be closed July 8-19. The detour will be C.R. 500W and C.R. 1100S.

• S.R. 59, south of Clay City, will be closed .6 mile south of S.R. 246 from July 19 to Aug. 15. The detour is C.R. 950S using C.R. 175W to S.R. 246.

• S.R. 59, north of Hendrix Street at C.R. 1100 N, July 8 to Sept. 12, using S.R. 59 to Hendrix Street to Murphy Road to C.R. 1200N.
