Back to school - Week 2

The lessons of life…and faith

 Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15

Think of one lesson from elementary school that you still apply to your life today?  What made that lesson stick? If you are like many people it is likely that that lesson was presented as a story. Everyone loves a good story. There is nothing more compelling than a great story!

In our society there are many, many ways to convey a story. For some of you it might be through a book, for some a movie, for still others a 30 minutes tv show…while others might only be able to handle a 3 minute you tube clip or a 60 seconds Instagram video. Stories grab our attention, they thrust us into another person’s life or an alternate reality. They may challenge us, inspire us, even anger us.

That is why Jesus used stories to share the ways of God with people like you and me. This week we will look at one of these stories. One in which Jesus shares with us why some of the seeds of faith that are planted never grow to maturity. He might ask you today, “How’s your soil?”

We want to invite anyone to come and worship with us or simply come and find out more about Jesus with us.
