COVID-19 UPATES March 20, 2020

The COVID-19 outbreak has caused many local events to be canceled or postponed to help limit the spread of the virus. This information was made available to The Times as of press time Thursday, March 19:

The Brazil Times’ closed their office lobby, located at 531 East National Avenue, at 4 p.m. Tuesday for public safety. Our staff will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to answer calls at 812-446-2216 because it’s business as usual. Log onto www.thebraziltimes.com to keep up-to-date.

• The Brazil City Parks will be closed Saturday morning March 21st until noon for disinfecting and cleaning purposes. Wizard Soft Wash is a commercial cleaning company who will be disinfecting all playground equipment as well as the restrooms in an effort to reduce germs and viruses.

• Clay Community Schools has postponed Kindergarten Open Registration that was scheduled for March 31 and April 1. Kindergarten Open Registration will be rescheduled when more up-to-date information becomes available. Keep up to date with school information on the corporation’s Clay Community Schools Facebook page.

• The Brazil Public Library closed at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, until further notice.

• The Walnut Theatre is now closed until further notice.

• Micks It Up Diner is now closed until further notice.

• Sister’s Antique Mall will be closed through the month of March.

LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS UPDATES:

• IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament Canceled

• Clay City baseball vs. Parke Heritage (3/21) - CANCELED

• Clay City boys golf at Parke Heritage (4/14) - CANCELED

• Rylee Paige Rogers 3 on 3 Volleyball Tournament postponed until June 6.
