Union Hospital medical tent update

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

On Saturday, March 13, 2020, a portable medical tent was set up outside the main entrance of the Emergency Department at Union Hospital. The decision came from the Incident Command Center. As of 1 p.m. today, the tent is now operational.

Medical officials say there is no reason to be alarmed. The medical tent is for patients being referred by their physician for respiratory evaluation. As patients present themselves to the Emergency Department, medical staff are on hand to determine where he/she should be placed. It’s a matter of streamlining each patient efficiently and as safely as possible.

To date, Union Hospital has tested 48 individuals for COVID-19, with 16 negative results and three positives. Visitor restrictions remain in place.
