BREAKING NEWS: Alleged home invasion results in four arrests and one suspect shot

An alleged home invasion resulted in a suspect shot at the scene and a total of four suspects taken into custody.

It happened early Friday morning. A press release from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department did not give an address, stating it was “in central Clay County.”

A caller told dispatch that three unknown people forced entry into his home and were armed with at least one firearm. Later it was discovered a fourth person was waiting in the car.

The caller said he exchanged gunfire with the suspects, possibly wounding one before the suspects fled the area.

A description of the vehicle was given to a dispatcher and Sheriff’s Deputies went to the residence.

A short time later, a Brazil Police Department Patrolman stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle.

Clay County Justice Center - Blake Braun, 18, Indianapolis

After a short investigation, two occupants of the vehicle that was stopped were taken to the Clay County jail and the injured suspect was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for further treatment. After being treated, the injured person was taken to the Clay County jail.

Sheriff Harden said a second vehicle was stopped containing two other suspects from the morning incident.

All four suspects were taken into custody, said Sheriff Paul Harden on Friday morning.

Clay County Deputies were called to the scene and began an investigation.

All four suspects have been charged with Felony Attempted Murder and Felony Burglary.

The incident continues to be investigated.

According to records at the Clay County Justice Center, four individuals were booked into the facility early Friday morning ranging between 18-19 years old.

Preston R Hassler, 19, and Blake Braun, 18, both from Indianapolis

Weston Havey, 18, of Reelsville

Sierra M Dewees, 18, of Fillmore

The three males are preliminarily charged with level 1 felony Attempted murder and level 2 felony Burglary with a deadly weapon. They are currently incarcerated without bond awaiting formal court proceedings.

The female is preliminarily charged with level 4 felony Burglary with a deadly weapon. She remains in custody on a $50,000 cash bond with no 10 percent allowed.
