Saturday, May 16, 2020

Athlete’s name: Nathan Owens

Years participating in the sport: 4 years

Parents/Guardians: Michael and Sarah Owens

Future plans: Attend Ball State University and major in architecture

Favorite memory: Competing in the regional meet in high jump

Biggest inspiration: My friend and teammate Bryce Patterson. He pushes me to be the best I can be every day on the track.

What you love most about your team: My team is my family. Over the years we have grown so much together. We have been fortunate enough to have a great coach and mentor in Coach Schroer over the last couple of years. We’ve made good memories together. There’s no other team I’d rather be a part of.

Coach Cole Schroer on Owens: Nate is a tremendous athlete. He's very explosive which made him our field event specialist. It didn't matter which field event you put him in, he would be one of the top two. He was a regional qualifier in high jump last year and we were hopeful for a big season this year. Nate is a hard worker, he's tough, he doesn't give up, and his enthusiasm is contagious. He will be successful in whatever he chooses to do next. We need more role models and leaders for younger athletes like Nate Owens. He leaves some big shoes.
