Senior Spotlight: Adrienne Combs

Saturday, May 30, 2020

Athlete’s name: Adrienne Combs

Sport: Northview track and field

Years participating in the sport: 4 years

Parents/Guardians: Shannon and Valerie Combs

Future plans: Attend college, possibly USAF. Visit Vietnam in my early 20s, move somewhere warm, marry the love of my life and start a family.

Favorite memory: Football games were the best. After almost every game, everyone would go to Wings to celebrate us winning. Also, junior year winning sectionals was very big for the girls. It was just an amazing experience to cut down the nets.

Biggest inspiration: My biggest inspiration is my father. No matter what I do, he is the first person I think of. He has always been the person there for me when I need advice or when something isn’t going right in life. He always pushes me to be a better person, even when I don’t agree some of the times. I don’t know what I would do without him or my mom always driving towards the bigger and better things in life.

What you love most about your team: Oh, this question is hard because there are so many things that make our team a family. We always goof around and do the most random things. We always think we are better than one another, and that just makes all of us so much more competitive. It’s crazy the excitement we all have for each other, yelling ‘LET’S GO’ or ‘Keep pushing’ or ‘You got this.’ Anything people yell makes us go a little hard every time. This will be the hardest thing about leaving Northview, but I will forever cherish the experience.

Coach Mark Raetz on Combs: Adrienne is one of the most talented athletes we’ve had in our track program since I have been here. She has consistently been one of our top point earners since her freshman year. We were really expecting her to have a big senior year, as she has continued to improve year after year.
