COVID-19 Update - 3 hospitalized

On Monday, Clay County Public Health Nurse Kim Hyatt confirmed three residents hospitalized due to COVID-19, but the number of positive cases remains steady at 56. Further details are not available due to the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Of the remaining COVID-19 cases reported in Clay County, Hyatt said patients are in various stages of the recovery process, with three reported deaths.

The ISDH reported 7,506 new tests performed in 24 hours (June 13-14), with 533 new positive results, and 11 deaths throughout the state.

In the Wabash Valley, the ISDH data shows Clay County is near the middle of the ranking for COVID-19 positive cases when considering neighboring counties in District 7.

The eight counties included are:

• VIGO - 200 Positive Cases among the 4,159 tested, with eight deaths.

• GREENE - 181 Positive Cases among the 1,110 tested, with 29 deaths.

• PUTNAM - 156 Positive Cases among the 1,867 tested, with eight deaths.

• CLAY - 56 Positive Cases among the 1,267 tested, with three deaths.

• SULLIVAN - 41 Positive Cases among the 1,120 tested, with one death.

• OWEN - 37 Positive Cases among the 1,037 tested, with one death.

• PARKE - 20 Positive Cases among the 551 tested, with no deaths reported.

• VERMILLION - 11 Positive Cases among the 487 tested, with no deaths reported.

The ISDH reports 40,430 positive cases among the 6.7 million Indiana residents, with 355,829 residents tested, and 2,251 deaths reported. The state’s data suggests of the Indiana residents tested, approximately 11.4 percent of Indiana residents are confirmed positive as of Monday, June 15.

There are 182 Indiana residents whose physician listed their death with COVID-19 as a contributing cause are diagnosed based on X-rays, scans, and other clinical symptoms with an absence of a COVID-19 test.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US), there are 2,063,812 cases reported in the United States, with a total of 115,271 deaths.

The CDC and the World Health Organization report 7,805,148 diagnosed cases worldwide, with 431,192 deaths.
