Clay County now has four deaths from COVID-19.

Clay County Health Nurse Kim Hyatt confirmed the fourth death was updated on the Indiana State Department of Health website Tuesday.

The local COVID-19 data had remained stable for two weeks at 56. Hyatt confirmed two Clay County residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19, but the remaining cases have either recovered or are in self-isolation.

Three other deaths were reported since the first positive case in the county was announced Saturday, March 28. Further details are not available due to the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Clay County has remained stable for two weeks at 56.

The ISDH reported 7,317 new tests performed in 24 hours (June 19-21), with 277 new positive results, and 13 deaths throughout the state.

In the Wabash Valley, the ISDH data shows Clay County is near the middle of the ranking for COVID-19 positive cases when considering neighboring counties in District 7.

The ISDH reports 42,633 positive cases among the 6.7 million Indiana residents, with 418,916 residents tested, and 2,363 deaths reported. The state’s data suggests of the Indiana residents tested, approximately 10.2 percent of Indiana residents are confirmed positive as of Monday, June 22. Indiana residents whose physician listed their death with COVID-19 as a contributing cause, a total of 190, are diagnosed based on X-rays, scans, and other clinical symptoms with an absence of a COVID-19 test.
