SUBMITTED - Pierson DeHart

The 10th annual Pierson DeHart Memorial Golf Tournament is set for July 25th at Forest Park Golf Course in Brazil. The purpose is to raise money for children with medical problems.

This year all money raised goes to Ryden Mattingly, son of Dustin and Desiree Mattingly.

“Ryden is 11 months old and is absolutely adorable.” states a flyer from the Deharts. “He was born premature and spent a short time in the NICU. When he was around 3 weeks old, his parents started noticing things that caused concerns. He was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis and had to have emergency surgery. He sees several specialists for different reasons; a Cardiologist, Neurologist, Neurosurgeon, Orthotist, and has recently been referred to Developmental Peds and a Geneticist to name a few. There are a lot of ‘unknowns’ to Ryden which can be very hard for his parents, but one thing is certain that this little guy is loved and full of life.”

The golf outing is named for Pierson DeHart.

Pierson was born into the DeHart family nearly 13 years ago with multiple medical problems. As result of his condition the community reached out and gave so much support. In turn, the DeHart family wants to extend that same support to another family in the community facing a similar situation of raising a child with special needs.

The tournament kicks off with lunch at noon and tee-off at 1 p.m.

The cost is $45 per golfer or $180 for a team of four.

Hole sponsors are needed at $100. Your name/business name will be placed on a banner at the event and on T-shirts that the volunteers will wear the day of the tournament.

The fee will include a golf cart and lunch for your team.

Your donation can be deposited into an account at any Terre Haute Savings Bank or checks made out to Pierson DeHart Memorial Fund and mailed to The Pierson DeHart Memorial Golf Scramble, 7649 N. C.R. 675 W, Brazil, IN 47834
