On Friday, the following was posted on the Clay Community Schools website:

Clay Community Schools Family Members:

Clay Community Schools continues to work very closely with local health officials. At this time, the school corporation has been given approval by local health officials to begin the new school year on Monday, August 10.

Clay County, like most other counties in Indiana, has witnessed COVID-19 cases over the summer, and this has included some students and employees in our school family. Many protocols and procedures, approved by the Clay County Health Department, have been established to help keep our students and employees safe and healthy, including a thorough, deep cleaning of the schools to prepare for our students’ arrival. It is vital for parents to partner with their child’s school in these efforts by conducting self-screening at home each morning, keeping ill children at home, working with family health professionals, and communicating with school nurses, principals, and teachers. (Parents are encouraged to access the Clay Community Schools 2020-21 Roadmap, which can be found on the corporation website.)

We are excited about the new school year and look forward to seeing our students on Monday!

Sincerely,

Jeffery D. Fritz

CCS Superintendent
