On Saturday, Brazil’s Pilot McDonald’s held a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

For each car that came through the drive-thru during those lunchtime hours, McDonald’s donated $2 to the Rylee Paige Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Rogers’ senior volleyball banner that typically hangs with her teammates inside Northview’s gymnasium was placed inside the glassed-in dining area near the pickup window for all to see.

Once the fundraiser time came to an end, McDonald’s presented a $364 check to the Rogers family as well as the Northview volleyball team members and staff that were present for the ceremony.

“It just means a lot because we’re keeping Rylee’s memory alive,” said Karen Rogers. “She loved volleyball and worked here at McDonald’s, so it’s her two interests really coming together. It’s really special.”

Last spring, Kambree Lucas was the first receipt of the Rylee Paige Rogers Scholarship.

This year, Karen and Ryan Rogers will be giving out two $1000 scholarships with it being Rylee’s senior year.

Potential candidates must be Northview volleyball players, have a 3.0 GPA and write a paper to apply. Karen and Ryan will then choose the winners.
