Space Force flag hoisted at Military Plaza

The flag for the U.S. Space Force, the 6th independent U.S. military service branch - tasked with missions and operations in the rapidly evolving space domain - was hoisted at Craig Park Military Plaza and Veterans Park Friday, Nov. 13. The president’s selection of the unique flag flies on the same flag pole with the Air Force because the new service branch was not a part of the original design for the project. However, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1127 Commander Jill Gilbert, the first woman to do so, said it only makes sense to put the two together. Gilbert helped hoist the flag Friday.
