• Clay County Emergency Management Press Release by EMA Director Robert Gambill

The Clay County Board of Commissioners has declared a “Watch Level Travel Advisory” for all Clay County Roads. Clay County Ordinance 8-2013 establishes that a watch level advisory may be declared when conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During the time the watch level advisory is in effect, travel on county roads should be limited to essential travel, such as travel to and from work or for emergency situations. At this level, emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

Roads throughout Clay County are snow-covered and drifting is present. Travel may be dangerous, especially on roadways that haven’t been plowed. Due to the type of snow being experienced in the area and the wind speed, many roads are quickly recovered with snow after being plowed.

An update may be made to the travel status this evening and another release will be sent out if this occurs.

• INSIDE OUT RECOVERY - 1408 East Hendrix Street, Brazil: Extreme Cold Weather Emergency Shelter will be open with food and shelter February 13 @ 6 p.m.-February 19, 10 a.m. Call 812-251-6194 for information.
