Clay City and Northview were among the schools around the Wabash Valley to honor Owen Valley baseball coach Ryan Wilcoxen Thursday night.

After Wilcoxen passed away from a brain injury, the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association asked each of the state’s baseball programs to turn their lights on from Thursday evening until Friday morning with the following tweet:

“To honor Ryan Wilcoxen, Head Coach at Owen Valley HS, we are asking tonight you turn your field lights on dusk til dawn. Ryan experienced a wholistic brain injury recently & the decision was made to begin the organ donation process.”

With a picture showing its field lit in remembrance of Wilcoxen, Clay City tweeted out the following message Thursday night:

“Clay City baseball lights are on in honor of Owen Valley baseball coach Ryan Wilcoxen and his family. Ryan will be given the honor walk before his organs are donated. We will keep Ryan’s wife Ashley and their two children in our thoughts and prayers.”

Northview also tweeted out a photo of its baseball field lit up, with the following message:
