Northview freshman wrestler Mercedes Tellechea (170) became the state champion at Saturday's Freshman-Sophomore State Finals Saturday.

Competing in the the Freshman-Sophomore State Finals at Southport High School in Indianapolis over the weekend, Northview freshman wrestler Mercedes Tellechea was crowned the state champion at 170.

Tellechea finished second in the Freshman-Sophomore State Qualifying Tournament two weeks before before winning it all Saturday.
