DePauw to host 'mass' vaccination today; Terre Haute event set April 10

Friday, April 2, 2021

Signups are now available for the mass COVID-19 vaccination site on the DePauw University campus on Friday, April 2.

While the one-day site is not listed among the sites on the state map at www.ourshot.in.gov, if a person wanting the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at DePauw on Friday clicks on another local site, the DePauw Lilly Center will appear among the appointment options, while spots remain available.

The Putnam County Health Department, DePauw and Hendricks Regional Health announced the clinic late last week.

The clinic will be open to anyone who meets Indiana’s eligibility requirements — including community members, teachers, health care workers and DePauw students and employees — with one exception. Although Gov. Eric Holcomb recently expanded the eligible population to those age 16 or older, the clinic at DePauw will be administering the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is authorized for use in people age 18 or older.

Proof of age and residency will be required.

The clinic will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at DePauw’s Lilly Center, 1 E. Olive St., Greencastle.

As with any Indiana vaccination site, appointments must be made in advance by calling 211 or visiting www.ourshot.in.gov. Patients will be sent a text message or an email confirming their appointment and allowing them to register before the appointment. DePauw students should use their campus address to register.

Once an appointment is made, patients will be sent a text message or email to confirm, which will also allow them to pre-register prior to their appointment. Upon arrival, patients will check in and be directed to the spot where they will receive their vaccine. Patients then will be escorted to an observation area, where they will be monitored for 15-to-30 minutes.

Patients are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. To date, more than a million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated, including more than 4,400 Putnam County residents.
