Summer food program recruiting volunteers

Tuesday, April 27, 2021

The Clay County Summer Food Program is asking for your help if it works into your summer 2021 schedule and tugs at your heart.

Summer Program 2021 will start the week after school is out. The organization plans on delivering a week’s worth of shelf-stable food this Summer Program like in 2020.

Delivery in Clay County North will be on Sunday afternoons starting at 3:30 p.m. with five delivery drivers assigned a time slot every 15 minutes. Several volunteers are being asked to “be on call” and they would be contacted each week to see if they are available to deliver and be assigned a time slot.

Pick up would be at Save A Lot each Sunday at 2 p.m.

Clay County South will pick up food at Save A Lot on Sunday, but will deliver on Monday mornings out of Cory Community Church of the Nazarene

Mercedes Hall is working on the on call list for packing so please message her if you can help be on call for Sunday packing.

Please contact the organizers if you can be on call for any of the deliveries in Summer 2021.

Forms will be sent home through the schools, but families can also FB message us at Clay County Youth Food Delivery Program, by email at clayyouthfoodprogram@gmail.com or by calling the Clay County YMCA at (812) 442-6761 to sign up.

Donations are also down around $30,000 from where they are usually are this time of year but organizers are not worried…yet.
