Did you feel that? 3.8 Earthquake reported near Montezuma
Did your house seem to shake Thursday afternoon?
It seems several communities reported “what was that” experiences.
The United States Geological Survey (www.usgs.gov) reported a 3.8 earthquake at approximately 3:18 p.m. in Indiana. (At the time of publication, the quake had yet to be OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED.)
The epicenter is approximately seven miles south of Rockville and northeast of Montezuma. During the past 24 hours, Indiana was shaken by one quake of a magnitude 4.4 and three quakes between 3.0 and 4.0.
Reports were coming in from Clay, Park, Vigo, Putnam, Clinton, Kokomo, and Howard counties in Indiana.
While an earthquake might sound weird for Indiana, the state is near two major fault lines and seismic zones: New Madrid Seismic Zone and the Wabash Valley Seismic Zone.
Times Editor Joey Bennett posted a question to FaCEBOOK:
“Anybody just feel anything like a building trembling? They supposedly just had earthquake-like tremors in Rockville...”
More than 19 comments were posted about the event, including these:

If you felt the earthquake and would like to help track the areas where it was at, log onto earthquake.usgs.gov and fill out a “Did You Feel It?” form.
The form collects information from people who felt an earthquake and creates maps that show what people experienced and the extent of damage.
