CCSC releases latest numbers of those quarantined, positive

Friday, September 10, 2021

Coordinator of Health Services for Clay Community Schools Lynn Stoelting, BSN RN, provided updated COVID-19 data Thursday.

Stoelting explained the data is changing hourly, which makes it challenging to keep track of on some days.

Quarantined students include:

Close contacts of the family (parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.).

Close contacts at non-school events.

Close contacts of school (during lunch, sports, etc.) when unmask.

Close Contacts are students identified as school contacts but did not need to be sent home. They all received letters notifying parents of close contact with a positive individual.

Stoelting said new procedures were implemented after Gov. Eric Holcomb changed the executive order on September 1, 2021, allowing children to stay in school when school is 100% masked.

The situation remains “fluid” as ISDH reports 98.4% of the samples taken from positive cases reported in September are the Delta Variant (B.1.627.2). This variant of the coronavirus is more susceptible to children.

Clay Community Schools uses the Indiana State Department of Health’s ADVISORY LEVEL, referring to current COVID-19 guidelines all Indiana counties must follow.

On that chart (www.coronavirus.in.gov/), Clay County is currently in the RED.
