After a successful event on May 1, “Cruising Brazil” will have its final event of 2021 on Saturday.

Cruising will start at 7 p.m., but a two-hour meet up at Forest Park starts at 5 p.m.

“This meet up is not mandatory, just a place to hang out for a couple hours before cruising,” organizer Eric Jensen said on the activity’s Facebook event post.

Jensen said the group will leave the park at 7:00 sharp and head out to Highway 40.

“Cruising will be from 7:00 till you decide to go home,” Jensen said. “If you don’t come to the meet up, just show up in town any time after 7:00. No fee, No registration, do your own thing and drive whatever you have no mater the condition. Just has to be street legal.”

Helpful hints

Based upon feedback from the first event of the year, Jensen has some requests/recommendations for participants to

•Please be respectful of others and businesses if you have loud exhaust or stereo systems. If there is a live band or a business has a special event outside to add to the fun, please allow them to sing without having to try to overcome a loud stereo system. Even more so after 10:00 so the locals that are not interested can sleep. Don’t have to go home at 10:00, just lower the noise level.

• Tire rubber or spinning tires. Nobody is concerned with a little here and there, but the long power braking, excessive spinning or sliding sideways while spinning has to stop. I know, I like doing it as much as you do but there are some situations that have to be addressed.

• The largest problem was when people, myself included, would stop in traffic and let the cars in front of you get ahead farther so you had room to do a larger burnout. The concern is (and it was witnessed at the last event) is that a child would think it was his chance to cross the road not knowing that the driver was getting ready to hit the gas. Not trying to kill any fun but we have to maintain safety. The police WILL be present and watching for excessive wheel spin this time.

• Spectators, Please watch your kids closely and feel free to post any pictures in the discussion section of the Facebook event post after cruising.

Jensen encourages people to share this story or the Facebook event post with as many people as they can.

“Sharing on Facebook has been the life of this event being so large, but still many people not on Facebook want to attend that don’t find out till that night or after it is over,” Jensen said. “Also, let any of the businesses know so they can plan if they have something special for that night.
