COVID-19 UPDATE: County remains ‘orange’; schools still fluctuating

The Indiana State Department of Health reports 3,346,653 Hoosiers are fully vaccinated, with 2,920 new residents fully vaccinated as of October 20, 2021. Those vaccinated, include 53.5% being female, 46% male, and .5% gender not identified.

Booster vaccines dispensed are currently 253,748 residents in Indiana.

Clay County reports 10,564 citizens fully vaccinated.

Statewide, Indiana surpassed the 1,000,000 mark for total positive cases. Clay County’s totals for 7-Day Positivity Rate and Unique 7-Day Positivity Rate remain above the state averages.

CLAY COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

The COVID-19 Data provided by Clay Community Schools continues to fluctuate.

Coordinator of Health Services for Clay Community Schools Lynn Stoelting, BSN RN, provides data to the ISDH and The Brazil Times.

Stoelting said the current data reflects that students/staff reported testing positive during fall break and did not return to school, so no contact tracing was required.

CCSC uses the ADVISORY LEVEL on the Indiana State Health Department’s COVID-19 Dashboard, referring to current COVID-19 guidelines all Indiana counties must follow. Clay County is currently in the ORANGE category with an 18.6% Unique Positive 7-day rate as of Thursday, October 21, 2021.
