A garage fire at a Brazil residence on North Walnut Street has first responders busy Monday afternoon.

Officials urge local travelers to avoid the area and find alternate routes of travel if possible while they work the fire.

The fire was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m., and members of the Brazil Fire Department responded with two engines. As of press time, no one was in danger.

However, the garage is close to other buildings and firefighters will be on location for a while to put the fire out.

A section of North Walnut Street, just north of the intersection of Park and south of Joseph Street is currently closed to traffic.
