NWS: FLOOD WARNING ISSUED

Flood Warning issued February 17 until February 19 at 1:​00​PM EST by NWS Indianapolis

...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Indiana...

White River, Eagle Creek, and Eel River.

.Melted snowpack combined with rainfall amounts of one to over two inches from Wednesday evening through today falling on the frozen ground has caused significant runoff which will produce flooding along area rivers. Along the main stem rivers, flooding could be lengthened and possibly worsened by another storm system next week.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Eel River at Bowling Green.

* WHEN...From this afternoon to early Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Floodwater, possibly a foot deep, covers SR 42 just east of the Eel River. Several county roads flood extensively. Persons in river cabins move cars and possibly belongings to high ground. Agricultural levees are threatened.

Poland-Bowling Green Road is impassable in several places.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

- At 7:30 AM EST Thursday the stage was 12.2 feet.

- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 19.7 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.

- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
