Interstate 70 was shut down early Wednesday, April 13, as emergency crews worked to extinguish a semi tractor-trailer fire near the 25-mile marker. Traffic was being diverted off the highway at the SR 59 exit at the 23 mile-marker.

Traffic was heavy in town as the semis were using US 40 to divert around the incident through Brazil.

Indiana State Police announced a few hours later the I-70 eastbound passing lane at the 25-mile marker was open but motorists should continue to used use caution in the area, or find an alternate route, as emergency crews continue to clean up the scene.
