BRAZIL BUZZ: A Wellness Visit Leading to High Blood Pressure

Saturday, April 23, 2022

In the morning I have my annual Wellness visit with my health care provider. Much different than a routine visit, this testing will tell her and others how best to tend to my medical needs at this advanced age and more…

This busy girl thinks I should be pleased with the extra attention and testing from head to toe

that I will receive while spending extra time in that little cold sterile room. Truth is, I am a nervous wreck about what may be going on with me that I am not aware of now. I feel perfectly fine - eat right, exercise, read ,write and live right.

Sometimes, especially, during Wellness visits; my blood pressure elevates to dangerous levels when I arrive at the office. A much different readings show than I have at home on my monitor.

My doctor, knows how to relax me with small talk and adds the second reading on the chart.

The dermatologist always asks me, with a grin, if I am afraid of him. Then we talk about white coats while I clutch my skimpy pale green gown with my wrinkly hand and pray for no more skin cancers.

Not always ,but more than not, the report is not too bad for an old lady like me. , Thus far, the findings are not anything that can’t be fixed.

Questions run rampant through my head. What if? Who would take care of Paul! He has experienced far more health problems than I have had in the last few years.

Now he deals with issues that can not be reversed and we both can attest; Paul Baby is a bit spoiled.

I made a promise 65 year ago to care for him in sickness and health and a lot of other stuff

and I am still aiming to please and he gives back two fold.

Our family is very good to us and transport us to appointments, stores and many other places. We dine out a lot and party, occasion or not. School plays and concerts are listed on our calendar as well. Like Allstate’s promise, we are in good hands.

With all of that going on I can’t complain. This writer hopes she don’t mess up when asked to draw the face of a clock and then there is those pictures of my brittle bones to view.
