Harden said it is unclear if new charges will be filed for this incident.

"We will have to talk to the Prosecutor's Office about that," Harden said, then added public safety was the most important part of the arrest. "We had several officers down there. We talked to the people where he was staying and got them safely out. We went to the neighbors and had them leave their homes for safety."

The incident began at approximately 2:30 p.m. when officers went to the door of an unidentified residence asking for Hofmann, who refused to come out.

Harden confirmed the Terre Haute Police Department SWAT Team was contacted during the incident, which ended around 8:30 p.m. Clay City Police were also on hand during the incident.

Hofmann was transported to the Clay County Justice Center and booked on the warrant charges without bail. Hofmann remains incarcerated until formal court proceedings are arranged.

"It's over with, and we had a very successful ending," said Harden.
