UPDATE: Brazil Bar Crawl fundraiser for food pantry and veterans in need is underway

On Saturday, 130 people participated in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1127’s first annual Brazil Bar Crawl.

Organizers said they were “blown away” by the community support for The fundraiser and look forward to doing it again.

IVY JACOBS PHOTO - The first annual Brazil Bar Crawl is raising funds for the County Food Pantry and local veterans and their families in need. The event is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1127, 303 South Depot Street.

The event raised funds for the County Food Pantry, local veterans, and needy families.

The post is located at 303 South Depot Street, with the crawl starting at noon and participants loading onto a trailer for safety.

The first stop was at Alabama Bar and Grill. Other stops included: American Legion Post 2, Eagles Lodge 274, Timeout, Elks Lodge 762, and then back to the VFW.

The trailer traveled up and down US 40, offering rides to the participants throughout the event.

As for how much was raised, they are still adding up the donations, but organizers say it was over $10,000, and they were still counting.
