Opal Edith Tucker was a bit tuckered out after celebrating her birthday at Villas of Holly Brook.

After partying with family and friends, the usually talkative 101 was ready to take off her special birthday hat and take a nap the day after.

Born and raised in Bridgeton, IN, on July 13, 1921, Opal Edith was one of eight children.

She graduated from Bridgeton High school.

Opal Edith married Richard Tucker, and moved to Terre Haute, IN, to start a family. They had three children.

Opal Edith was a devoted housewife and mother. Her family has grown over the years, with nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She loved to cook, and even took the time to pen her own cookbook.

When asked what her secret to longevity was, Opal was a bit cheeky.

“Ice cream,” she said, adding. “My family.”

With a passion for jewelry and bright colors, especially purple, Opal Edith is very active at the assisted living center.

The employees say she is very talkative and enjoys sharing her memories with the company.

She is a lifetime member of the Seelyville Methodist Church.
