Death reported in Friday accident, names not released

CORRECTED August 5, 2022 - Brazil Police Department responded to a report of a motorcycle passenger car collision shortly after 3 p.m. Friday near Forest Avenue and Normandy Drive.

First, on the scene, the motorcycle driver and a female passenger were found unconscious.

The Brazil residents in the car refused medical treatment at the scene.

Apparently, the motorcycle was attempting to pass the car trying to turn left, failed to yield, and impacted the driver's side of the car, according to officials.

The male motorcycle driver, from Roachdale, IN, was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital, and taken by air ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

The female passenger, From Terre Haute, was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Brazil and then airlifted to go to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. However, the patient coded, and the helicopter landed at the nearest hospital for treatment.

The patient was later pronounced dead at the Putnam County Hospital.

The names are not released yet, pending notification of family members.

(HIPAA) regulations, additional information about the medical condition of a victim is unavailable. The Brazil Times will also not release details to protect the integrity of active cases, including the name of the victims involved.)
