TOP STORY OF THE DAY: Forever Friends 2.0

It was 16 years ago that three 8-year-old girls became life-long friends during the 2006 YMCA Summer Day Camp, and Times Co-Editor Ivy Jacobs snapped their picture together. Avery Deckard, Reagan Rose, and Abbi Cooper said in unison at the time, “We’ll be friends forever.”

The picture was featured in The Brazil Times.

Fast forward to 2022, Reagan and Avery’s younger brothers have also become best friends through the summer camp. Leialoha Marion recreated a photo with another friend: Carson Girton. 8, Jon Batchelor, 7, and Harrison Bechtel, 7.

The boys met in preschool, but all attend different schools. They all attend the Y summer camp in Brazil, where they can continue their friendship where it left off.

Carson is the younger brother of Avery Deckard, and Jon is the younger brother of Reagan Rose.
