CCEYF Check-In: Week 2 edition

The Clay County Elite Youth Football 3rd-4th grade team and 5th-6th grade teams were back in action again over the weekend, taking on Cloverdale and Monrovia. Both teams return to Harmony Field this week for their home openers.

CCEFY 3rd-4th grade Titans

The 3rd-4th grade Titans were on the road to face Cloverdale. The Titans started off strong with a long run by Caden Longo. This was followed by a hard run, breaking several tackles and ending up in the end zone by Colt Sims. The Titans defense was stout all game, which included numerous tackles for loss by Sims, Jett Barker, Chandler Westfall, Remington Wise, Chuck Moore, Bryson Butcher, and Bentley McVeigh. Colt Sims and Ethan Chaille had interceptions that gained several yards. Noah Isbell was able to return a punt for a touchdown. Hollis McPike put the defense in a great position by providing deep kicks all game.

Offensively, Wyatt Tabler punched in a touchdown gaining an early lead, putting the score at 12-0 in the first quarter. Longo increased the advantage with a 60-yard touchdown. The offensive line consisting of Wise, Moore, Westfall, Cruz Shepard, and Jase Mackey provided great blocks all game and allowed no tackles for loss. The second half featured McVeigh as the QB allowing several rushes from Butcher, Chaille, and Tabler out of the backfield to seal the Titans' 26-0 win. They will be hosting Cascade at Harmony Field Saturday.

CCEFY 5th-6th grade Titans

The 5th-6th grade Titans were back on the road to face the second Monrovia team. Offensively, the Titans started off strong with a touchdown on the first drive by Colton Eveland. On the next drive, Jaime Ziemendorf was able to punch in a 15-yard run for a touchdown behind great blocks from offensive linemen Asher Mahan, Benton Hoskins, Drew Williams, Braylon Kenny, Hunter Wilson, tight end Haiden Mackey, and wide receiver Cooper Lovett. Eveland scored a second touchdown with the help of Ziemendorf's blocking. Quarterback Reid Barker scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, the Titans held tough behind Hoskins, Mackey, Ryder Long, and Wilson including several key stops from Hunter Buell, Max Stultz, Gage Sims, Bowen Bidaman, and Barker. Eveland forced two fumbles while Tristan Brown had an interception that he took to the one-yard line. The Titans finished strong with a score of 24-0. They will be hosting Cloverdale at Harmony Field.
