CCSC talks about new police force

Tuesday, September 13, 2022

During Thursday night’s school board meeting of trustees, the board approved to begin discussions about creating a police force.

“Times have changed,” said Superintendent Jeff Fritz, who admits to missing the days of school openness, but Uvalde, TX, and many other active shooters in schools have changed that. “This is the next step in protecting our students and staff. This is for school safety only.”

The board members agreed this idea was worth “taking a hard look” at because school safety is a “top priority,” and “supplementing local law enforcement” is vital for any emergency at Clay Community School Corporation.

The Brazil Times will follow up on this story.
